John Dumelo Involved in a fight at Legon Voter Registration Centre

Actor John Dumelo, who is running for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) seat in Ayawaso West Wuogon, was embroiled in a near-fight at the Legon voter registration station.

Tensions about the district’s ongoing voter registration drive were present at the time of the confrontation.

Although the exact reason for the incident is still unknown, witnesses claimed that Dumelo’s ban from using his phone inside the registration station sparked the argument.

Dumelo stated that even if he complied with the ban, he would protest if Lydia Alhassan, his opponent, was permitted to use her phone.

A University of Ghana student who was apparently supporting the other side approached Dumelo during their fight. A viral video of the altercation showed Dumelo warning the student, which brought the scenario dangerously close to physical violence. Quick action by the on-site security personnel allowed Mr. Dumelo to be escorted out of the venue and peace to be restored.

Due to many claims that John Dumelo intended to speak with a student’s girlfriend and that this is what caused the conflict, the incident has received a lot of attention on social media.
