Jules Kounde snubs Chelsea to join Barcelona on a four-year deal

Fabrizio Romano confirmed Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla after a long drawn-out saga.

Ambitious Xavi’s side beat Chelsea to secure the signature of Jules Kounde as Catalans agree deal worth over £46m for the Sevilla star.

Barcelona almost lost the battle for Kounde to Chelsea, who had appeared on the verge of signing the 23-year-old French defender over a £55 million deal last weekend.

However, phone-call from Blaugrana’s boss convinced Kounde to wait for Barcelona despite chelsea agreeing a deal with Sevilla.

The French centre-back is finally fulfilling his dreams after joining Sevilla from Bordeaux in 2019 and has since become one of the finest defenders in Europe.

Kounde has made 133 appearances since joining the Spanish outfit and 11 caps for the French national team.

Barcelona and Sevilla are now ironing out the final details of the negotiations before the documents are signed for a complete transfer.

Townflex Sport understands that 23-year-old defender has already agreed a four-year deal with Barcelona last week.

Transfer expect Romano on Wednesday confirmed that the two clubs have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer.

The 42-year-old Barça legend Xavi Hernandez is believed to have played a vital role after pushing hard for the signature of the Frenchman.
