Justin Bieber announces he has facial paralysis due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome [Video]

Canadian singer, Justin Bieber has announced that he has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome and that half of his face was paralyzed.

The multiple award-winning singer born legally with the name Justin Drew Bieber made this announcement known to the rest of the world confirming it as new via his official and verified Instagram account on Friday, June 10 2022.

In his post which is an Instagram video post, decided to alert the fans on the current state/status of his health condition as he described how the health condition is asked in the caption of his video post that his fans do keep him in their prayers as he is currently using this time to rest and destress.

Due to his current health condition, Justin will be taking a break from his active music business and performances as a precaution and guidelines from doctors.

The Ramsay Hunt syndrome has left the creative singer unable to move parts or lets say half of his face and unable to take the stage as some shows have already been canceled.

“It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis, As you can see this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move. So there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.” he said in the video.

What is Ramsay Hunt syndrome? Causes

Ramsay Hunt syndrome “occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.” according to According to the Mayo Clinic.

Justin Bieber Health Conditions

Bieber has struggled with mental health issues, particularly depression and anxiety, at various points during his career. He has generally been open about these issues.

On January 8, 2020, Bieber announced on his Instagram that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. He also revealed that he has infectious mononucleosis, which affected his neurological and overall health.

On February 3, 2020, in Bieber’s American YouTube docu-series Seasons, the singer opened up about his struggles with addiction with frequent consumption of lean, pills of MDMA and hallucinogenic mushrooms in early stages of his career.

On February 20, 2022, it was reported that Bieber had tested positive for COVID-19, two days after embarking on his fourth concert tour, Justice World Tour.

On June 10, 2022, Bieber announced via Instagram that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome and that half of his face was paralyzed. He cancelled concerts and appearances due to the condition and said he does not know long it will take for him to recover.
