In a strategic move just weeks before the U.S. presidential election, Democratic nominee and current Vice President Kamala Harris released her medical report on Saturday, October 12.
The disclosure aims to emphasize her good health and fitness for office, particularly in contrast to her opponent, former President Donald Trump.
The letter from Harris’s physician, Dr. Joshua Simmons, noted that her recent physical exam in April was “unremarkable.”
It highlighted her active lifestyle and healthy diet, despite the demands of her busy schedule.
While Harris does experience seasonal allergies and sporadic hives, the doctor confirmed she does not smoke and consumes alcohol in moderation.
Dr. Simmons stated, “She possesses the physical and mental resiliency required to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, including those as Chief Executive, Head of State, and Commander in Chief.”

At 59, Harris is competing against 78-year-old Trump for the highest office in the land.
Her campaign has been keen to spotlight Trump’s age, especially following President Joe Biden’s recent decision to step aside after a lackluster debate performance against him.
A Harris aide indicated that the campaign’s goal is to highlight Harris’s relative youth and mental acuity compared to Trump, coupled with the contrasting levels of transparency regarding their health.
This approach aims to persuade undecided voters of her qualifications for the presidency.
The medical report also addressed her allergies, stating they are well-managed through both over-the-counter and prescription medications.
Her hives, which have been described as “sporadic and transient,” respond effectively to antihistamine treatments.
Harris has undergone allergen immunotherapy for three years, significantly improving her symptoms.
Additionally, the report revealed that Harris wears contact lenses and is current on all preventative health measures, including colonoscopies and annual mammograms, despite a family history of colon cancer.
With the election approaching, Harris’s proactive transparency could play a crucial role in shaping voter perceptions as the race intensifies.
