Powell, known for his strong social justice stance, accused the rapper of abandoning his values and betraying the very community that has supported him for decades.

“Snoop wasn’t always this way,” Powell remarked, highlighting the artist’s earlier work, which often reflected his commitment to the struggles of marginalized communities.

He argued that by agreeing to perform at the Trump event, Snoop had compromised his principles in exchange for financial gain.

“He traded his soul for a bag of money,” Powell said, expressing his disappointment in the rapper’s shift.

The comments come as part of a broader criticism of celebrity involvement in Trump’s inauguration festivities.

Powell also called out country music star Carrie Underwood, who performed at Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, accusing her and other artists of aligning with a president whose views he described as “sexist, homophobic, racist, transphobic, and xenophobic.”

According to Powell, such actions alienate the very fan bases that supported these artists’ careers.

However, not everyone agrees with Powell’s take. Singer Bobby Valentino, in a separate interview with TMZ, pushed back on the idea that performing at a political event should automatically be seen as an endorsement.

“A gig is just a gig,” Valentino remarked, suggesting that artists should be free to perform without their actions being misconstrued as political statements.

Powell’s comments reflect a larger debate about the role of entertainers in political events, with fans and critics alike questioning whether their participation in such events speaks to their values or undermines them.
