King Charles Names William And Kate The Prince And Princess Of Wales

Prince William and Kate Middleton have officially been named the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The announcement was made on Friday, in King Charles first address to the United Kindom following the passing away of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II who died on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at age 96.

As many of you are already aware, formerly Prince Charles now known as King Charles, 73, assumed the role as a king after succeeding his mother, the Queen.

While making his speech on Friday, King Charles III named his first son, Prince William, 40, and his wife, Kate Middleton, 40, as the Prince and Princess of Wales, the role which was once his.

Charles, who became Prince of Wales in 1958, automatically became king on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, on Thursday.

Making the announcement, King Charles said;

“As my Heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me. He succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall which I have undertaken for more than five decades,” King Charles added in the speech, recorded in Buckingham Palace’s Blue Drawing Room.

“Today, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty,” he added. “With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the centre ground where vital help can be given.”
