Liverpool and Tottenham Managers have each called for the Carabao Cup semi-finals to be played over a single leg.

Both sides won their quarter finals yesterday. Liverpool beat Leicester on 5-4 on penalties thanks to a late Takumi Minamino equaliser.

Brentford lose 0-2 to Chelsea in the last 10mins of the game with an own goal and Jorginho Penalty kick.

Tottenham defeated West Ham 2-1 after goals from Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura.

Liverpool will play Arsenal in the last four while Tottenham face Chelsea.

The ties are due to take place in on 3 and 10 of January 2022.

Klopp and Conte’s comments follow a week of complaints over scheduling and player workload.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on Wednesday said “nobody really takes player welfare seriously“.

Premier League board meets all 20 club managers on Thursday afternoon to discuss these issues.

However, the Carabao Cup is run by the EFL, so the meeting will not address the semi-finals.

Jurgen Klopp said while discussing the prospect of the next round being single-legged,

I think it would be better with one game absolutely, but obviously what I say is not too important.

“If there are two games, then we will play two games. But it would be helpful if there was only one, true.

“If the draw has us at Arsenal, I’m fine with that – we play there and see who is better and go for it.

“Tomorrow we have a meeting at 4pm but it’s with the Premier League and not with the EFL, I’m not sure if they are involved or not.

“I said it before, I would prefer only one semi-final. But I can’t see any kind of changes actually.”

Klopp rotated his squad making 10 changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Tottenham last Sunday for the quarter-final against Leicester.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte Spoke after his side’s win over West Ham, He said:

Maybe it would be better to play one game and not two games, especially for the situation we are living but we have to respect the rules.”
