In a tragic turn of events, a police Inspector has been arrested for the murder of a woman in Kumasi, Ghana on the night of Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Inspector Ahmed Twumasi is suspected of shooting and killing his alleged girlfriend, Victoria Dapaa, who was only 26 years old.

He had been on the run since the incident but was apprehended by the police in Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region, following a special operation launched in the aftermath of the shooting.

Reports suggest that the suspect fired five shots at close range, resulting in the tragic death of Victoria, who was also a mother.

Eyewitnesses at the scene of the crime have recounted that the man was seen chatting with the deceased before shooting her. After the first two shots, Victoria pleaded with the man to stop, but he allegedly fired three more shots before fleeing the scene in a rickshaw.

The Eyewitnesses claim that they were unable to arrest him because he was holding a gun.

“After the first two shots, she was pleading with the guy to stop and he added three more shots before jumping into a rickshaw [a light two-wheeled passenger vehicle] to run away.

“Because he was holding a gun, we could not attempt to arrest him,” said the eyewitnesses.

Inspector Twumasi is currently in police custody and will be brought before court to face justice.

The police have assured the public that he will not be shielded and will face the full force of the law.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among the public, as it raises questions about the safety and accountability of those who are tasked with upholding the law.
