Lewandowski beats Messi and Ronaldo in 2022 Fifa Awards to retain his trophy

The final installment of the football awards season took place at FIFA headquarters in Zurich on Monday with FIFA’s The Best awards. 

The main FIFA awards were voted by the current national team coaches, the current captain of every national team, one specialist journalist from each territory and fans registered on FIFA.com.

The event on Monday eve kicked off with a special recognition for Canadian star and the world’s all-time leading international goal scorer, Christine Sinclair has won the FIFA Lifetime Achievement Award.

It ended with a special award for Cristiano Ronaldo for setting the all-time scoring record in men’s international football.

Alexia Putellas followed up her Ballon d’Or triumph by winning the Fifa’s Best women’s player awards for 2021, while Robert Lewandowski beat Lionel Messi to the men’s title on this occasion.

Alexia Putellas who previously won the Ballon d’Or, Globe Soccer Awards and UEFA Women’s award has again won Fifa player of the year after beating her team mate and Chelsea star.

Robert Lewandowski finally retained the fifa player award he won last year after missing out on Ballon d’Or awards (Lionel Messi) and Globe Soccer awards (Kylian Mbappe) for the title of best player of the year.

Erik Lamela won out as the winner of the prestigious Puskas Award for the best goal scored anywhere in the world in 2021.
But it was a tight vote, with Mehdi Taremi’s bicycle kick earning top spot among fans.
