Former One Direction singer Liam Payne has been confirmed dead.

The former member of boyband One Direction, Liam, 31, died on Wednesday, October 16 atfer falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to several witnesses, the singer fell from the 3rd floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.

The Buenos Aires police who arrived at the scene and confirming his death on the spot following a 911 call said they were called to the hotel in the capital’s leafy Palermo neighborhood where they were notified of an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.”

Pablo Policicchio, a representative for the Buenos Aires municipality’s Security Ministry, told The Associated Press that Payne “had thrown himself from the balcony of his room.” He stated that officers were summoned to the hotel in response to an emergency call regarding a “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” Police arrived and heard a thump before discovering Payne’s death in the hotel courtyard, according to Policicchio.

Reports has it that his death happened around 5pm with claims from some witnesses stating that the late singer was acting all eratic in the hotel lobby prior to his death, he also reportedly smashed his laptop, and had to be carried back to his room.

Aphoto optained by TMZ showed that autorities and first-responders at the scene had a rent tent placed over to cover the body as they began investigations into the Liam’s demise.

Liam Payne who kept sharing several social media posts together with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy showing them having massive fun on a vacation per checks, arrived in Argentina on September 30th, but she reportedly left the country on September 14, while Liam stayed behind and then checked into the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.

He had been in Argentina recently earlier in the month where he attended the concert of his former bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires, and the 1D bandmates actually reunited at the show.

The musician who has been open in the media about struggling with addiction and spending time in a rehabilitation earlier on Wednesday in a 2023 Video, posted on Snapchat talking about his trip in Argentina, hinting about riding horses, playing polo, and looking forward to returning home to see his dog.

Earlier this week, claims surfaced that Liam’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry claimed he left her after asking her for an abortion. Her attorneys had attempted to issue him a cease-and-desist letter to stop contacting her.

Following his death, social media has been flooded with a lot of messages from fans, friends etc who shared their messages of condololences, and also sharing some memories of the late singer.

Reacting to the tragic incident, MTV had this to say on X; “We’re deeply saddened to learn of Liam Payne’s tragic passing today. During this difficult time, our hearts remain with his family, loved ones, and fans.”

Payne was one of five members of One Direction, who formed in 2010 after auditioning for the British singing competition series “The X Factor.” After each performer failed to advance as individual acts, Simon Cowell and his colleagues judges teamed together Payne, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson to become one of the most successful boy bands, despite losing the competition.

The band gained popularity for their pop style and romantic songs such as “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Night Changes,” and “Story of My Life.” By the time they dissolved in 2016, they scored six Billboard top ten hits. They had a devoted fan following, many of whom were teenage females.

Payne, who was previously engaged to Maya Henry from 2020 to early 2022, is survived by a 7-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, with former girlfriend Cheryl Cole. in addition, he is survived by his parents, Geoff and Karen Payne, and two older sisters.
