The world mourns the loss of former One Direction star Liam Payne, as a UK inquest confirms his cause of death as “polytrauma,” indicating multiple traumatic injuries.
Payne tragically passed away following a fall from a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, leaving fans and loved ones devastated. As investigations continue, the details surrounding the beloved singer’s death remain under scrutiny by both UK and Argentine authorities.
The Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court, during a hearing on December 17, revealed that the investigation into the 31-year-old’s passing might take considerable time to conclude.
Dr. Roberto Victor Cohen, a forensic expert, confirmed that Payne’s medical cause of death was due to “polytrauma.” His formal identification was carried out with assistance from funeral directors in Buckinghamshire.
Senior Coroner Crispin Butler stated, “Whilst there are ongoing investigations in Argentina into the circumstances of Liam’s death, over which I have no legal jurisdiction, it is anticipated that procuring the relevant information to address particularly how Liam came by his death may take some time.”
Five individuals have been charged in connection with Payne’s untimely demise, according to Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office. Those charged include: Gilda Martin (Hotel Manager), Esteban Grassi (Receptionist), and Roger Nores (Payne’s Friend).
The trio faces manslaughter charges, while hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra and waiter Braian Paiz are accused of supplying cocaine.
