Ruth Gibbons, sister of former One Direction star Liam Payne, is mourning the loss of her brother following his tragic death at age 31.
Just three days after Liam was found dead after a fall from a Buenos Aires hotel room, Ruth shared a deeply emotional tribute on Instagram.
“Liam is my best friend,” Ruth wrote on October 19, recalling their close bond and the joy he brought into her life.

She reminisced about the early days of Liam’s career, noting how he moved out at 17 to pursue his dreams.
“I couldn’t stand the thought of not being able to get to him,” she shared, explaining how she passed her driving test just to visit him more often during his rise to fame.
Ruth described Liam’s infectious laughter and his passion for music, particularly his love for One Direction.
“We would have mini 1D concerts,” she recalled, emphasizing his kindness and desire to make others happy through his work.
Yet, she also acknowledged the struggles he faced with mental health and addiction, saying, “I don’t feel this world was good enough or kind enough to you.”
In her heartfelt message, Ruth made a promise to Liam regarding his son, Bear. “We’ll take care of Bear, and he will always know how incredible his dad is,” she vowed, expressing her deep sorrow and regret.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t save you. Love you, oh how my heart misses you,” she added, poignantly stating, “I’d drive to the end of the universe to bring you back.”
