Lil Wayne took to the stage on the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special on February 16, 2025, performing a medley of his greatest career hits, including “Uproar,” “Lollipop,” “Mrs. Officer,” “A Milli,” and “6 Foot 7 Foot.”

The performance, joined by The Roots, was a high-energy celebration of the rapper’s iconic career.

Wayne’s appearance on the legendary SNL stage marked a triumphant moment, especially after he expressed his major disappointment earlier about not being chosen to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The news hit hard for the New Orleans native, who was vocal about his feelings on social media. “It hurt a whole lot,” Wayne shared in an Instagram video.

He explained that he had mentally prepared himself for the spot but was still devastated when Kendrick Lamar was announced instead.

Wayne admitted that the snub stung deeply, particularly because of the significance of performing in his hometown during the Super Bowl.

“There’s nothing better than that spot, that stage, and that platform in my city,” Wayne said, adding that the disappointment made him feel like “s—.”

Despite the setback, Wayne revealed that he had a conversation with Kendrick Lamar in December, where he expressed his best wishes for Lamar’s Super Bowl performance.

The two rappers cleared the air, with Wayne understanding that Lamar’s success was due to his hard work and dedication.

“I think he just means that he made it there, and his hard work is the reason why he made it there,” Wayne said.

While the Super Bowl may have been a missed opportunity for Wayne, he has kept his fans excited, teasing “something very special” in the days leading up to the event.
