Edwin Castro, the man who won a staggering $2.04 billion (£1.67 billion) Powerball lottery prize, has suffered a devastating loss after his luxurious Malibu mansion was destroyed in the ongoing wildfires ravaging Los Angeles.

Castro’s £3 million Malibu home was engulfed in flames, with footage obtained by The US Sun showing the property reduced to ashes.

Castro, who claimed his record-breaking lottery prize in November, had purchased the Malibu mansion as one of his three properties.

The fire has left Castro without one of his dream homes, just months after he had reportedly heightened security around the estate.

The mansion was his third property, alongside a £20.7 million mansion in West Hollywood and a home in Altadena.
