Louisiana State Police announced that Truong was detained alongside six other individuals for their involvement in a sophisticated drug distribution network operating throughout the state.

The investigation, which began in April 2024, was led by the Louisiana State Police Narcotics/Violent Crime Task Force.

The operation uncovered that the group, described as a Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO), was responsible for distributing a wide array of controlled substances.

These included opioids, high-grade marijuana, THC products, and MDMA. Investigators also found that social media platforms were being used to facilitate drug sales and handle transactions.

The drug sales were reportedly generating significant profits, which were funneled into purchasing firearms—some of which ended up in the hands of individuals prohibited from owning weapons.

These firearms were also linked to violent crimes in the Bogalusa area. Tragically, the Louisiana Department of Health recorded 2,456 drug-related deaths in 2023, highlighting the severity of the state’s ongoing struggle with substance abuse.

These include transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, unauthorized use of a moveable, and soliciting prostitution.

In addition to Truong, six other individuals have been arrested, facing charges related to drug transactions, conspiracy, and other criminal activities.

All seven individuals were booked into the Washington Parish Jail, though Truong was able to post bail and was released on a $150,000 bond.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill condemned the arrest, stating, “We have zero tolerance for wrongdoing, especially from public officials.”

District Attorney Collin Sims also pledged to continue investigating the case, promising to dedicate resources to support the citizens of Bogalusa.

As of January 9, Truong has yet to offer any substantial public comment other than a cryptic Facebook post reading, “Joy comes in the morning,” leaving many questioning his future in office.
