Louisiana Woman threatened ex then showed up with 2 gunmen

A Louisiana woman is at the center of a chilling murder case following the fatal shooting of her ex-boyfriend, Jonathan Brookin, earlier this year. Subrina Honore, 32, is accused of orchestrating the deadly confrontation with the help of two armed men she allegedly recruited.

According to a newly filed superseding indictment dated June 5, the shooting occurred on January 27. Brookin, a 32-year-old father of five, was gunned down in the presence of a female friend and her two young children at a home in Jefferson Parish.

The motive behind the deadly ambush appears to stem from a dispute over the paternity of Honore’s baby. Honore insisted that Brookin was the father and had allegedly made numerous threats in the days leading up to his death.

Court documents revealed that Honore made a chilling social media post the day Brookin was killed, stating, “I got time today, [expletive]. I’m coming to your house.” Hours later, she showed up at Brookin’s friend’s home, visibly angry and confrontational about a birth certificate.

Witnesses told authorities that Brookin was in the garage when Honore arrived. Despite requests for her to leave, Honore allegedly refused. Moments later, two armed men exited a nearby vehicle, one of them identified as 31-year-old Arthur Thomas.

The woman inside the house said she fled to protect her children as the confrontation escalated.

Police reports and court testimony reveal that gunfire erupted shortly after the two men approached Brookin. Authorities believe shots were fired by three individuals, and Brookin may have fired in self-defense before being fatally shot in the head.

Honore told investigators that Brookin had fired first. After the shooting, she allegedly fled the scene with Thomas and the second suspected gunman.

During court hearings, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Ryan Vaught testified that Honore had recruited Thomas to pressure Brookin for the birth certificate. She later admitted to contacting the second alleged shooter, though his role remains under investigation.

The day after Brookin’s death, Honore and Thomas were arrested and charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Two more men, Jatary Joseph, 32, and Jjaun Jasmin, 34, were also taken into custody in connection with the killing, though their specific roles have not yet been publicly detailed.

Brookin’s sister told Nola.com that Honore had made repeated threats in the week leading up to the deadly shooting, further cementing suspicions of premeditation.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to build their case around what appears to be a tragic and calculated act of violence rooted in a bitter personal dispute.
