In a decisive move, President John Dramani Mahama’s administration has instructed the recall of all diplomatic and service passports issued under the Akufo-Addo government.
This decision, announced on Tuesday, January 14, is aimed at ensuring that these passports are used properly to prevent misuse and to safeguard the nation’s integrity.
The directive came through Mahama’s Executive Secretary, who emphasized the importance of verifying the documents and ensuring they align with government regulations.
According to the statement, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with notifying all diplomatic passport holders and setting a clear deadline for their return.
The government has given the Ministry until January 24 to complete the process of collecting and reviewing these passports.
This move highlights the new administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, particularly regarding the handling of sensitive official documents such as diplomatic passports.
