President John Mahama has announced the nomination of nine new ministers as part of his government’s restructuring and preparations for a new term.

The latest appointments, confirmed by sources within Joy News, include some familiar faces in the Ghanaian political scene.

Haruna Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, has been named as the new Minister for Education. Iddrisu, known for his dynamic leadership and deep involvement in national policy discussions, is expected to bring fresh ideas to the education sector, addressing the country’s evolving educational needs.

The full list of nominees also includes Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP for Adaklu, who will take charge of the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, MP for Goaso, has been nominated as the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, while Eric Opoku, MP for Asunafo South, is set to lead the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, MP for Krowor, is slated to head the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, with Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP for Ketu South, being nominated as the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts. Emelia Arthur, MP for Takoradi, will be responsible for the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

George Opare-Addo, known for his youthful energy and vision, has been appointed to lead the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, while Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, will take on the role of Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.

The President has also announced the nomination of three regional ministers, further strengthening his government’s ability to manage local affairs.

This latest round of ministerial appointments follows Mahama’s earlier nominations of Cassiel Ato Forson for Finance, John Jinapor for Energy, and Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Justice.
