President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern reminder to individuals aspiring for positions in his incoming administration, emphasizing that hard work, humility, and a commitment to serving the nation are non-negotiable qualities required to address Ghana’s current economic challenges.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service held at the Assemblies of God Church in Accra, Mahama expressed his determination to form a government composed of individuals genuinely committed to the welfare of the Ghanaian people.
He stressed that only those willing to work diligently and selflessly would be considered for appointments.
In a direct message to prospective appointees, Mahama said, “People who are considering themselves for various positions … and I just want to warn them, it is not going to be a walk in the park. If you are not prepared to work and serve the people of Ghana, diligently, with modesty and humility, then do not come. Just stay where you are.”
The President-elect also reflected on lessons drawn from previous administrations, emphasizing the transient nature of power and the importance of using it responsibly.

According to Mahama, some leaders have grown arrogant and selfish, forgetting that their authority is a temporary trust granted by the people and by God.
“We have grown in arrogance and selfishness and we have believed that the power that we wield over the people belongs to us and did not recognize that it was God who gave it to us temporarily,” Mahama stated.
He added, “God has made us know that power belongs to the people. It should serve as a lesson to those of us who are coming into government.”
The message is clear: leadership under Mahama will prioritize selflessness, hard work, and a focus on serving the Ghanaian people above all else.
Mahama’s remarks come at a time when Ghana faces significant economic hurdles. His administration will aim to restore public confidence and address pressing issues through dedicated service and leadership grounded in humility.
As the country awaits his inauguration, Mahama’s commitment to assembling a team focused on the nation’s progress offers a glimpse into his vision for the future.
