Man Accused of Killing Roommate Over Thanksgiving Dispute

A Massachusetts man, Robert Lombardi, 65, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 80-year-old roommate, Frank Griswold, following a dispute over Thanksgiving meal preparations.

According to authorities, Lombardi shoved Griswold during an argument about the food, resulting in Griswold falling and suffering fatal injuries.

On November 27, 2024, the Marshfield Police received a 911 call about an unconscious male found bleeding from the head at their home.

Griswold was later pronounced dead at South Shore Hospital from a head injury and a fractured neck.

Lombardi reportedly told police that he was upset with Griswold for being near the food, particularly due to Griswold’s sneezing, which Lombardi feared might contaminate the meal.

After a confrontation, Lombardi grabbed Griswold and shoved him, causing him to fall. Lombardi later called 911 to report the incident.

On November 29, 2024, Lombardi pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery on a person over 60.

His defense attorney described the incident as an accident, while prosecutors presented it as an altercation that led to Griswold’s death. Lombardi is being held without bail as the investigation continues.

The exact cause of death is still being determined by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
