A 40-year-old man from Mungate Village, Chinhamora, Zimbabwe, has been arrested after allegedly beating his 13-year-old niece to death over a $10 bill.

The man, named Tauya Mungate, is accused of using a switch, a wooden broom, and a fan belt to brutally assault the young girl after accusing her of stealing the money.

The tragic incident occurred on November 4, and Mungate was taken into custody shortly after. According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the assault was so severe that it led to the child’s death.

The police shared the news on social media, confirming the details of the assault: “The suspect assaulted his niece (13) to death with a switch, wooden broom, and fan belt after accusing her of stealing US$10.”
