In a horrific incident in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district, a man has been arrested for setting his wife on fire after she gave birth to their third daughter.
The tragic event unfolded on the night of Thursday, December 28, 2024, in Gangakhed Naka, about 520 kilometers from Mumbai.
Kundlik Uttam Kale, 32, reportedly had ongoing arguments with his wife, Maina, over the birth of their three daughters.
According to a complaint filed by her sister, Kale had been frustrated by the fact that Maina had not given him a son. The tensions between them escalated to violence during an argument on Thursday night.

In a moment of rage, Kale allegedly poured petrol on Maina and set her on fire. Maina, engulfed in flames, ran out of the house, screaming for help.
Neighbors rushed to help her, trying to extinguish the flames, but Maina suffered severe burns and tragically died before she could reach the hospital.
The entire act was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, which have provided vital evidence for the investigation. The Gangakhed police arrested Kale, charging him with murder.
This horrifying act has shocked the local community, drawing attention to the issue of gender-based violence in India.
Women, especially in rural areas, often face discrimination and violence due to the societal preference for sons. The loss of Maina, at the hands of her husband, highlights the devastating impact of such biases.
