A 20-year-old man from Jacksonville, Florida, has been arrested after allegedly leaving an 8-month-old baby in the roadway, only to fatally hit him with his car.
The tragic incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, January 25, when Justin Golden, the suspect, reportedly got into an argument with a female passenger while driving with the baby in the car.
At approximately 10:39 a.m., officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) responded to a crash at the intersection of Lenox Avenue and McDuff Avenue.
Upon arrival, they discovered the baby in the road, struck by a vehicle that had already fled the scene. Emergency responders rushed the child to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have identified Justin Golden as the driver involved in the incident.
Authorities say he and the female passenger were arguing when he stopped the car, took the baby out, and placed him in the roadway before driving away, striking the child in the process. Golden was quickly located and arrested.

Golden is now facing serious charges, including aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide, for the death of the infant. A spokesperson for the JSO expressed their deep sorrow, calling the incident a “tragic and senseless loss of life.”
As of now, it remains unclear what the relationship was between the adults in the vehicle, though some reports suggest they may be the baby’s parents.
Local residents have been left shaken by the events, with barbershop owner Markin Barnes, who witnessed the aftermath, expressing his shock.
“The kid was bleeding.
So we immediately asked did she [the woman] need help,” he said.
“It’s going to be prayers and thoughts for the family.”
