A Plain Township man has been sentenced to 29 years to life in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Raychel Sheridan, 24.
On Friday, November 8, Sean Goe, 27, was convicted of killing Sheridan, beating her with the blunt end of a hammer and discarding her body in a deserted Mother Goose-themed park in Canton, Ohio.
At his sentencing on November 11, Stark County Common Pleas Court Judge Frank Forchione delivered a harsh rebuke to Goe, calling the crime “morally bankrupt” and stating that he “sold your soul to the devil.”
Judge Forchione further labeled the crime the most brutal he had ever encountered. “You threw her in the trash like a piece of garbage,” he said, describing the gruesome details of the case, including how Goe wrapped Sheridan’s body in a sheet and left it in a garbage can in the park.
Prosecutors revealed that Sheridan had suffered at least 10 violent blows to her head, making her nearly unrecognisable.

The hammer used in the attack was found inside the apartment the couple shared. Goe’s actions came to light when a park employee discovered Sheridan’s body on July 3, 2015, after she had been reported missing the day before.
Her mother had called authorities for a welfare check after not hearing from Sheridan.
Police soon located Goe driving Sheridan’s vehicle and arrested him after he fled on foot. Evidence collected from the apartment confirmed foul play.
Goe was indicted on charges of murder, felonious assault, gross abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.
At the hearing, Sheridan’s mother, Lisa Sheridan, addressed the court, grieving the loss of her daughter. “You have murdered our baby girl!” she cried. Goe will be eligible for parole after serving 29 years.
