Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has firmly explained his decision to leave Marcus Rashford out of the squad during Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Brighton in the Premier League, stating that he will not field any player he does not believe is the best fit for the team.
This decision comes at a time when Rashford’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain, with rumors suggesting that the 27-year-old forward is set to leave the club for a fresh challenge abroad.
Rashford, who expressed his desire for a new challenge last year, has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Despite United’s ongoing struggles on the field, Amorim has remained resolute in his stance that the England international will not feature until he is fully aligned with the team’s needs.

When asked about the possibility of recalling Rashford after the defeat to Brighton, Amorim responded candidly:
“It is his choice [not to play]. I don’t want to focus on this bad moment because, in the games we lost, Rashford is not here.
I don’t want to put this moment on Rashford. Rashford is out of this moment because he is not playing.”

Amorim emphasized that he will only select players who he believes will contribute to the team’s success, no matter their reputation or past performances.
“No matter what, I am not going to put out a player I don’t believe is the best for the team,” the United boss added.
As Rashford’s future at Manchester United hangs in the balance, it remains to be seen whether this tough stance from Amorim will impact the player’s decision to stay or seek a move away from the club.
