Isak Andic, the billionaire founder of the global fashion chain Mango, tragically passed away on December 14, 2024, after a fatal fall while hiking in Spain.

The 71-year-old businessman slipped and fell from a 150-meter (500ft) cliff near the Monserrat caves, located just outside Barcelona.

Andic had been hiking with family members when the accident occurred, and emergency services were alerted around 12:30 p.m. local time.

Despite the swift response of a helicopter and ambulance, paramedics confirmed his death upon arrival at the scene.

Andic, known as one of the wealthiest individuals in Spain, was estimated by Forbes to be worth $4.5 billion (£3.6 billion) and was believed to be the richest man in Catalonia.

His death has sent shockwaves throughout the fashion world and beyond.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his heartfelt condolences to Andic’s family, praising the entrepreneur’s vision.

In a post on social media platform X, Sanchez said, “All my love and recognition for his great work and business vision, which has turned this Spanish firm into a world leader in fashion.”

Mango’s CEO, Toni Ruiz, also paid tribute to Andic, calling his death “unexpected” and highlighting his legacy.
