Man’s Body Pulled from River in Norwich, Authorities Probe Cause

A man’s body has been pulled from the River Wensum in Norwich, sparking an urgent investigation into his mysterious death.

Emergency services, including fire and ambulance crews, responded to the scene near the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge at 4:26 AM on Saturday, January 11.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was retrieved from the water and rushed to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Norfolk Police have confirmed that his death is being treated as unexplained, and efforts are underway to determine how the man ended up in the river.

His next of kin have been informed, though no further details about his identity have been released.

In a bid to gather more information, police have issued a description of the deceased. The man was described as an Asian male, approximately 5ft 9in (175cm) tall, of slim build.

He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, black trousers, and a distinctive wide-brimmed hat. He was also carrying a large black holdall at the time.

Detectives are urging anyone who was in the Riverside area of Norwich in the early hours of Saturday morning or who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.

They are also asking for any relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage that might shed light on the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
