Watch: Man’s Eye-Popping Trick Earns Him A Guinness World Record

Williams Martin Sanchez Lopez, initially from Montevideo, Uruguay, and now living in Milan, Italy, has set a Guinness World Record for a mind-blowing party trick. His skill? He can pop his eyeballs out of their sockets.

“It started when I was a kid,” Williams told Guinness World Records. He discovered the talent at around age 8 or 9, learning to relax the muscles around his eyes until his eyeballs jutted forward like something out of a Saturday morning cartoon.

Over time, he refined the technique to the point where he could push his eyes out entirely. Yes, on purpose. “I could basically move the upper and lower part of the muscles around my eyes, [and] over time I perfected my skill until at last I was able to move the eye completely out of its socket.”

According to GWR, William’s doctor took an official measurement of his orbital excursion length, which confirmed that his eyes can protrude an impressive 19 mm (0.74 in).

Naturally, Williams’ favourite aspect of his expertise is the reactions he receives from shocked bystanders when they notice his bulging eyes.

“The funniest thing is when maybe a person doesn’t realize what they’re about to see,” he said. “When I come close to them and pop out my entire eyeball in this way, people definitely don’t just sit there and watch, but they basically jump two metres high.”

It does not stop there. Fans on social media want him to shout their names and pop his eyeballs out. What was the result? Millions of views, a fast expanding number of followers, and a devoted fan base.

Williams, a father of four who works in logistics, now lives in a province outside Milan and treats eyeball theatrics like his personal brand. “I’m a person that likes to kid around and laugh,” he said. “So the fact that I can pop out my eyes, let’s say that it’s a very different point of view in general.”

And as for the idea of someone beating his record someday? Williams is totally fine with it. “It will still have been a beautiful, very beautiful experience I’ve had here at Guinness World Records.” Watch his video below.
