A very tragic news hit American singer, songwriter, and actress, Mariah Carey as she announced the passing of her mother, and sister all on the same day over the weekend.
Mariah made the news public on Monday, August 27th in a social media post where she poured her heart out expressing how heartbroken she is following the death of her mother, Patricia, as well as her sister, Alison.
The Grammy singer also who had a complicated relationship with her family, which she detailed in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey” her statement revealed she is blessed to have spent the last week with her mother before her passing.
The singer who expressed her appreciation to all showing her love during this trying time also asked for privacy.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.” the Grammy singer said in a statement.
“I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she continued.
Currently, the exact cause of death remains unknown. But as the world waits for more information, Mariah Carey’s followers and friends continue to express their support.
Mariah’s connection with her sister Alison was more distant and challenging. Mariah mentioned in her memoir that, for her own mental and physical well-being, she chose to limit contact with both Alison and Morgan (her brother) at various stages in her life.
Her father, Alfred Roy Carey, died of cancer in 2002, at the age of 72. She grew up with her mother, Patricia Carey, and two siblings, Morgan and Alison.
