Martha Ankomah Sues Lilwin Over Defamatory Comments, Demands GHC5 Million

Actor Lilwin has been sued by colleague, Martha Ankomah..

Ghanaian actress, Martha Ankomah sues Lilwin, her colleague actor following unpleasant comments he made about her recently.

I would be recalled that the actor cum comedian, Kwadwo Nkansah well-known as Lilwin was in the news a few days now as he was seen in a viral video insulting the actress for allegedly communicating to one of the Kumawood directors, Frank Fiifi Gharbin, that she will not work with any of the Kumawood stars because they produce nonsensical movies.

“Who knows you? If not for GTP and senior government officials who signed you on at GTP, who would have signed you. What kind of star are you? Even your own daughter doesn’t know you. I don’t even know why GTP bypassed the likes of McBrown, Mercy Asiedu and co and made Martha Ankomah their brand ambassador. “If you had been a male actor, you would have suffered.” The actor said.

Lilwin continued; “When you become an actress and you become a start, men take care of you, men rent accommodation for you, men buy you houses, men buy cars for you. You would have suffered as a man but for the fact that you are female. It is men who look after you. You have become a star that is why men take care of your needs, you don’t use your money on anything.”

Well, prior to Lilwins’s Insults, Martha Ankomah expressed her disinterest in collaborating with individuals from Kumawood and mentioned witchcraft story lines as one of her disinterests during a recent radio interview on Accra-based, Accra FM

While she acknowledged enjoying Kumawood movies in the past, she emphasised that the portrayal of witchcraft no longer appealed to her.

“I love their storylines and they used to have really good movies like Kumasi Yonkuo, but of late, most of their movies portray witchcraft and that does not motivate me to shoot with them,” she stated in her interview with Hitz FM.

So Martha’s comment on Kumawood movies forced the hands of Lilwin to say all that he said to her in the viral video.

Martha Ankomah Sues Lilwin:

In a writ of summons filed on February 14, 2024, Martha Ankomah claims that the statement made by Lil Win had caused harm to her reputation and the brand, GTP.

Part of taking legl actions against Lilwin, Martha sued him for defamation and demanding a Gh¢5 million compensation in addition to other damages.

She is seeking a declaration in the above words of insult by Lilwin. Aggravated damages for the reckless and malicious publication of the defamatory words. An order directing the Defendant to publish an apology and a retraction of the said defamatory words with the same prominence.

In addition, she is seeking for an Injunction restraining the Defendant from further publishing and causing to be published the said or similar words defamatory of Plaintiff.

LilWin has also been issued an eight-day ultimatum to appear before an Accra High Court or face the consequences.
