President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has agreed to take immediate action to stop illegal migration from Mexico to the U.S.

The agreement, which Trump described as a significant breakthrough, is expected to address the growing issue of illegal immigration along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump posted on Truth Social, stating that Sheinbaum’s administration would halt the flow of migrants heading to the U.S. southern border, which he termed “an illegal invasion.”

Sheinbaum confirmed the deal, stating that caravans of migrants are no longer reaching the U.S. border as Mexico is actively managing the migration issue within its own borders.

The conversation between Trump and Sheinbaum also touched on the rampant drug trade, particularly fentanyl, with both leaders discussing ways to curb its influx into the U.S.

The deal came just days after Trump threatened Mexico with a 25% tariff if the migration crisis wasn’t addressed.

Sheinbaum initially pushed back against the threat but later described her dialogue with Trump as “wonderful” and “productive,” highlighting the success of their negotiations.
