Michigan couple wins $2M lottery prize on their anniversary

A Michigan couple’s wedding anniversary became even more memorable after they scratched off a $2 million prize from a lottery ticket.

The couple, who live in Oakland County, chose to celebrate their big day by purchasing a “Diamonds & Gold” scratch-off ticket from the Opdyke Featherstone Mobil gas station in Auburn Hills. What started as a romantic tradition quickly became a life-changing celebration.

According to the 44-year-old wife, she and her husband enjoy playing a variety of scratch-off games, with Diamonds & Gold being a favorite. The couple decided to scratch the ticket together as part of their anniversary celebrations.

“We scratched this ticket off together on our wedding anniversary and my husband noticed the $2 million prize first,” she shared with the Michigan Lottery. “He thought something wasn’t right, so we took it to the store to scan it.”

After scanning the ticket in-store, a message appeared, instructing them to visit a lottery office to file a claim. Uncertain and still in disbelief, they reached out to a friend, asking her to scan the ticket using the lottery app.

“When the $2 million prize popped up on her screen, I started shaking,” the woman said. “It was total shock. I couldn’t believe it was real. It turned out to be the best surprise ever on our anniversary.”
