A Michigan hospital was placed on lockdown Thursday morning following gunfire in its parking garage, which authorities later revealed stemmed from a personal dispute between two employees .
Robert Paljusevic, 21, has been charged with assault with intent to murder, felony firearm possession, and carrying a concealed weapon after allegedly shooting a co-worker at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, located in the Detroit metropolitan area.
Hospital staff contacted Troy police shortly after 7 a.m., reporting what they feared was an active shooter. However, police quickly clarified that the incident was isolated and not an active shooter situation. Upon arrival, security personnel found a 25-year-old victim with gunshot wounds to his arm. He was promptly treated in the hospital’s emergency department.
Investigators allege that the shooting occurred as the victim drove into the parking garage. Paljusevic is accused of firing at least five rounds, striking the victim’s car and hitting him twice in the arm. Authorities arrested Paljusevic at his home in nearby Macomb County approximately two hours later.
During a court hearing on Sunday, a Troy police detective detailed the events leading to the shooting. According to the detective, the two men had once been friends, but their relationship soured after the victim chose not to invite Paljusevic to his father’s private, family-only funeral.

Family members of the victim described Paljusevic as “possessive” and prone to anger. Police reports indicate that Paljusevic attended a public viewing for the victim’s father, where he allegedly approached the casket and remarked, “Your f—ing son would not invite me to meet you.”
Following the funeral, Paljusevic is accused of escalating the tension by making a video call to the victim, during which he reportedly showed himself urinating on funeral brochures and issued a chilling warning: “If I do see you outside in public, don’t be surprised if something happens.”
Paljusevic, who had been employed at the hospital for approximately two years, is now being held at the Oakland County Jail without bond. The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
