A Missouri firefighter paramedic tragically died on Sunday after he was stabbed while transporting a patient to the hospital.

Graham Hoffman, 29, with the Kansas City Fire Department, was fatally wounded while responding to a medical call.

The stabbing occurred in the back of the ambulance during a routine transfer of a patient to the hospital. Hoffman’s partner immediately initiated a crew emergency, and additional emergency responders rushed to the scene.

Despite the heroic efforts of his colleagues, Hoffman was later pronounced dead at North Kansas City Hospital.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas expressed his condolences, calling Hoffman’s death an “unfathomable crime.”

He highlighted Hoffman’s dedication to selflessly serving others, emphasizing the deep pain felt by the city as it mourned this senseless loss.

“This senseless act reminds us of the dangers our first responders face each day,” Lucas stated.

Hoffman, who joined the Kansas City Fire Department in 2022, was known for his compassion, dedication, and leadership. His colleagues described him as a caring and loving individual who truly loved serving his city.

Shanetta Bossell, 38, has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple other felonies in connection with Hoffman’s death.

Bossell had previously been arrested earlier in the week for biting a police officer, further complicating her case.

The death of Fire Medic Hoffman has left a profound impact on the Kansas City community, as residents and officials come together to honor his sacrifice.

As the investigation continues, the community is reminded of the risks faced daily by first responders.
