A Charlotte, North Carolina woman, Sarah Weber, has been arrested on charges of child abuse after reportedly neglecting to give her 4-year-old daughter solid food for nearly six months.
Authorities say the prolonged neglect caused severe malnutrition in the young child.
Weber, 28, was taken into custody on Saturday, January 4, 2025, and charged with one felony count of neglect resulting in serious injury.
She is being held on a $25,000 bond, according to Mecklenburg County jail records.
According to arrest warrants, Weber’s daughter had diarrhea for about a month, but Weber did not take her to see a doctor during this time.
It was only after the child was eventually seen by a medical professional that the extent of the abuse became clear.

The doctor reportedly found the young girl to be “severely malnourished” due to a lack of solid food, and the child was subsequently admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Neighbors of the family expressed shock and sadness over the situation. “It’s definitely very saddening, right?
So you could be in close proximity to someone and not know the extent of suffering,” one neighbor told local news outlet WSOC.
Weber’s arrest follows a disturbing case of neglect, leaving the community in disbelief.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and Weber is expected to face further legal consequences. As of now, her daughter is receiving care and is being monitored for her recovery.
