Born Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., Gotti’s career began in the late ’90s, where he initially worked as an A&R at Def Jam Recordings, where he signed legends like DMX, Jay-Z, and Ja Rule.
In 1998, he co-founded Murder Inc. Records, which would later become a major force in the music world. Gotti was behind hits like Ashanti’s “Foolish,” and Ja Rule’s collaborations with Jennifer Lopez on “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny.”
In the months before his passing, Gotti had opened up about his health struggles, particularly his battle with diabetes.
