Name and photo of presidential driver who died in convoy crash released

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s convoy was engaged in an accident at Bunso Junction in the Eastern Region on the way back from the funeral of the late Ejisu MP John Kumah, which resulted in the death of one driver and serious injuries to others. 

According to reports, the tragedy happened when a KIA truck drove over the convoy that was moving quickly.

When the event happened, President Akufo-Addo was not in the convoy. According to additional reports, two wounded military officers affiliated with the presidency were taken to Accra for additional medical attention. 

The incident and the driver’s identification were verified by the Presidency in a statement issued on May 19. A picture of the dead, identified as Kwesi Atta, was released by the state-owned Daily Graphic.
