Netflix has unveiled the first teaser and release date for its highly anticipated docuseries produced by 50 Cent, officially titled “Sean Combs: The Reckoning.” The four-part investigative series premieres December 2, placing a spotlight on the rise, influence, and controversies surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The teaser opens with a stark warning from former Bad Boy artist Mark Curry, who says, “You can’t continue to keep hurting people and nothing ever happens. It’s just a matter of time.” His words set the tone for what the project promises — a close, unfiltered look at Combs’ career and the shadows that trailed it.
The series arrives at a moment when Combs is already facing intense public scrutiny. 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson, has been one of Combs’ loudest critics, frequently taunting him on social media throughout his criminal trial. Combs was convicted of transportation to engage in postitution and acquitted of more serious sx trafficking and racketeering charges. In October, he received a 50-month prison sentence and is expected to be released in May 2028.
According to the official synopsis, “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” is described as “a staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend and convicted offender.” The docuseries retraces Combs’ rapid ascent through the music industry via Bad Boy Entertainment, where he helped shape careers of artists including The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, and Danity Kane.
But the series also explores darker accounts from former associates, friends, employees, and artists who witnessed another side of Combs’ ambition. The production blends exclusive interviews with never-before-seen material to uncover what it calls a gilded empire built atop a hidden underworld.
Directed by Alexandria Stapleton, the series consists of four hour-long episodes. Executive producers include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Stapleton, Stacy Scripter, David Karabinas, Ariel Brozell, and Brad Bernstein.
It is produced by Stapleton’s House of Nonfiction, Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television, and Texas Crew Productions.
Netflix has also released a teaser and an official poster ahead of the premiere.
