Brazilian football icon Neymar, currently with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, is reportedly exploring a move to Major League Soccer (MLS).
According to ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle, the 32-year-old winger is in early talks with three MLS teams about a potential switch to the U.S. soccer scene.
Of the clubs expressing interest, the Chicago Fire is the standout team. Despite finishing near the bottom of the league last season, Chicago recently hired former U.S. men’s national team coach Gregg Berhalter, signaling their ambition to make a big impact.
However, Inter Miami is not one of the clubs pursuing Neymar, contrary to earlier speculation.
The club’s new manager, Javier Mascherano, recently stated that it would be “impossible” to bring Neymar on board due to MLS’s financial restrictions.

Still, sources close to Neymar hint that the Brazilian forward has not entirely ruled out the possibility of reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez in Miami, hoping for a revamped “MSN” trio in the future.

Neymar’s time at Al Hilal has been far from smooth. After a high-profile $97.6 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023, the Brazilian’s season was marred by injuries.
He suffered a torn ACL on international duty shortly after arriving in Saudi Arabia, and though he returned to action in October, a hamstring injury has limited his appearances.
With just seven league and cup matches played this season, Neymar has only scored once, a goal in the AFC Champions League.
His current contract with Al Hilal runs through June 2025, and he can begin negotiating with other teams for a potential transfer as early as this year.
