Nick Cannon has bravely opened up about his struggles after being diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), admitting that he “needs help” to better understand and manage the condition.
The 44-year-old entertainer, known for his roles in shows like The Masked Singer and his work with the Los Angeles Mission, discussed his diagnosis during a candid episode of his podcast, Counsel Culture.
Cannon explained that he had long suspected something was off and had even undergone tests in the past. He shared with People that he was previously unaware of the extent of his diagnosis, saying, “I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD.

Even as a kid, it was dyslexia, but just knowing that I’m a neurodivergent individual, I kind of always knew.” His recent diagnosis of NPD, however, was a revelation that he’s still processing.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder is characterized by a heightened sense of self-importance, a lack of empathy, and a deep need for admiration from others.

People living with NPD often struggle in their relationships and social interactions. Despite these challenges, Cannon emphasized his commitment to personal growth, saying, “I’m healing. I need help. Show me.”
He views therapy and mental health awareness as vital tools in his healing process and encourages others to seek help too.
Cannon revealed his diagnosis for the first time on November 8, during a podcast episode featuring Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, a clinical psychologist.
He reflected on how learning more about his condition has empowered him to take control of the narrative. “I’ve taken all the power away from the term narcissism,” Cannon explained.
“Now if I didn’t know what it was, then I’d have an issue with it.”
Despite the challenges, Cannon remains optimistic, striving to become the best version of himself and using his platform to advocate for mental health awareness.
