A Nigerian singer has declared that she is going to start a 130-hour sing-a-thon with the goal of breaking Ghanaian Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s uncertified record.

Approved by Guinness World Records, Jazmine Sawacha will begin a 130-hour singing marathon in March that will take place in Lagos, Nigeria in March 2024.

This comes following the much-discussed Afua Asantewaa sing-a-thon over the Christmas season, during which she broke the previous record held by an Indian by singing nonstop for 126 hours and 52 minutes.

In response to the post, Ghanaians were less than thrilled about the move, while Nigerians were overjoyed.

One netizen commented, “Let’s go girl, I trust her, she will make 150 hours instead of that 130 hours, she is a strong girl.”

A Ghanaian also fired back: “@afuaasantewaasingathon from Ghana 🇬🇭 did 126 hours and 52 minutes a few weeks ago and I don’t think her record is breakable 😌. Wishing this one all the best though but still I don’t think she’s ready. #peace❤️ #proud Ghanian 🇬🇭”
