No Ghana Card, no salary starting from December 1 – Controller to gov’t workers [see details]

Ghanaian workers working under the government’s payroll have been given a month to make sure they have their National Identification Cards (Ghana Card) ready with them and are well and in good shape or risk stop getting paid.

According to a new statement released on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, by the Controller and Accountant General signed by Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, all workers who are on government payroll without National Identification Authority (NIA) will not be paid their salaries.

According to the statement sighted by Townflex, this will take effect starting from December 1, this year 2021.

Per the statement, this new measure taken is part of the Ghana Government’s effort to deliver speedy, secured, and verify payroll services to all government employees and pensioners while reducing the risk of underserving payments or claims.

The Controller and Accountant General disclosed that it is collaborating with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to have a harmonized database to facilitate biometric and unique identification of all workers on the goverment’s payroll.
