Despite receiving financial permission from the government, no hospital has offered to hire some outraged nurses who are waiting to be posted to other hospitals to start their professional careers.

The nurses claim that the leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) failed to convince the government to order the hospitals to hire them according to reports.

The disgruntled medical professionals, who have since been picketing outside the finance ministry, vow that if they are not posted by day’s end, they will not go back to their various homes.

They claim that despite promises that they would be posted, any prior attempts to organize a protest to voice their concerns have been repressed.

Their Concerns

Most of them were agitated and furious. Upon interaction with some of them, this was what one of them had to say:

Rose Adu Gyamfi, who is a member of the protesting nurses iterated as follows:

“Most of the time they tell us to pray

“Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance has issued this clearance to us.”

She added that they have been home without any improvement and no progress.

“If this is not clearance, the Ministry of Finance should come and tell us. We are fed up with them,” she concluded.
