A terrifying and senseless attack on New Year’s Eve left a New York City man injured after being violently shoved onto the subway tracks in front of an oncoming train.

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Joseph Lynskey, was waiting for the 1 train at the 18th Street station in Manhattan when the shocking assault took place just after 1:30 p.m.

In a dramatic moment captured on video, Lynskey, who is a well-known DJ in the city under the stage name Joe Usher, was seen standing near the edge of the platform when an unknown man suddenly pushed him into the tracks.

The suspect quickly fled the scene as the train barreled toward the platform.

Miraculously, Lynskey survived the attack. He fell beside the train rather than directly under it, avoiding a head-on collision with the speeding train.

Despite his narrow escape, Lynskey suffered serious injuries, including a fractured skull, broken ribs, and a ruptured spleen. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Thanks to quick police work, the suspect, 23-year-old Kamel Hawkins, was arrested less than an hour later. Hawkins is facing charges of second-degree attempted murder and four counts of assault.
