His family confirmed the devastating news through a heartfelt message on social media, revealing that he died after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“We share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco,” his family wrote. “His life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love.

Maco, born Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., had a remarkable career that started with the viral success of “U Guessed It,” which made waves on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him recognition in the rap community.
His unique style and energy quickly gained him a place in the music scene, leading to a signing with the influential Atlanta-based label Quality Control, home to stars like Lil Baby and Quavo.
The rapper’s death comes after a troubling few weeks. On December 12, he was hospitalized following a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He spent two weeks in a coma before his condition worsened, leading to his tragic passing.

Maco had faced numerous health battles in the past, including a near-fatal car accident in 2016 that almost caused him to lose his right eye and a serious infection in 2019 that left him fighting for his life.

His family, in their tribute, expressed deep gratitude for the love and support from his fans throughout his life.
