A tragic train collision in Wales has left one man dead and 15 others hospitalized after two passenger trains collided on a remote line near Llanbrynmair, Powys.
The crash occurred around 7:29 PM, prompting a swift response from emergency services, including Dyfed-Powys Police, British Transport Police, and the Welsh Ambulance Service.
The deceased man, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene, with police confirming his next of kin have been informed.
The injuries of the other 15 individuals involved are not believed to be life-threatening, according to authorities.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene as emergency crews worked to assist the injured. One passenger reported that before the impact, the driver warned everyone to brace for the collision, resulting in several injuries, including a person losing teeth and suffering cracked ribs.
Both trains involved were the Transport for Wales services: the 6:31 PM train from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and the 7:09 PM train from Machynlleth to Shrewsbury.
Following the incident, the railway line between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth was closed, and replacement buses were provided for the evacuated passengers.
A joint statement from Network Rail and Transport for Wales emphasized their commitment to safety and ongoing support for emergency responders.
Wales’ First Minister, Eluned Morgan, expressed her condolences on social media, thanking emergency services for their quick response.
