In a bold move to tackle systemic corruption, Ghana’s President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team has introduced confidential platforms to encourage public reporting of suspected corruption cases.
This comes a few days after John Dramani Mahama of Ghana took a decisive step to fulfill his anti-corruption campaign promises by establishing a dedicated team under his Transition Team to combat corruption.
The anti-corruption team, chaired by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, comprises a group of respected professionals with expertise in auditing, law enforcement, and investigative journalism. Members include:
- Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairman
- Mr. Daniel Domelevo – Former Auditor-General
- COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye – Retired Police Commissioner
- Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private Legal Practitioner
- Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative Journalist
ORAL sets up platforms to collect information on suspected corruption
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for Mahama’s Transition Team, unveiled the initiative in an official announcement on Friday, December 20. The ORAL team has rolled out multiple secure and anonymous channels for citizens to report acts of corruption.
The available reporting options include a toll-free number (0800 900 111), an official website (www.oralgh.org), and an email address ([email protected]). These platforms are designed with enhanced security measures to ensure informants’ privacy and protection from retaliation.
Kwakye Ofosu assured the public that every report would be handled with “utmost discretion” and prompt action would be taken to address credible cases. “We are committed to making accountability a cornerstone of governance under President Mahama’s leadership,” he stated.
With these measures in place, the ORAL team is calling on the public to come forward with information, confident that their contributions will be instrumental in the fight against corruption.
