Ghanaian musician OV opens up about how her split from Stonebwoy’s record label, the ‘Burniton Music Group’ contributed to her mental health struggle.
Just as many will recall, musician OV who is born with her legal name Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko made headlines with photos of her hitting the internet space that saw her looking out of control , unkept, and all depressed following her split from Stonebwoy’s management.
OV has finally come out to give out the real reason behind what triggered her mental issue, as she looks back at that time added to the reasons many suggested she was into drugs and got addicted to narcotics.

OV who is currently promoting her newly released single titled ‘SHUSH’ was speaking on the 3FM Drive show with Giovani Caleb, revealed that her mental issues started after her exit from Stonebwoy’s label which made her depressed.
According to her, parting ways with the Bhimnation team really hit her hard and she even started to doubt herself as to if she deserved to be on a record label, adding that she felt something bad that she wouldn’t even wish for an enemy to go through.

“It was after the exit. It was something that hit me very hard. It got me thinking, ‘Am I not enough? It started giving me doubts about deserving to be on a label. It put me through some state that I will not wish for my enemy. It put me through a lot. I was depressed. It got to a point I stayed away from everybody.” she said.
She continued, adding that it got to the point where she wanted to even take off her clothes after feeling something wasn’t well with her while at an event organized by a colleague musician.
With all that she has been going through, the former MTN Hitmaker reality show star included that she was confined for two weeks, but unfortunately, she was unknowingly given an overdose of the medicine which was intended to help her, which later made her paralyzed and drooling all over.
“I was at a friend’s event. When I got there, I felt like something was not right. So I went out. I started feeling a burning sensation and wanted to take off my clothes.
“I was confined for two weeks. It got to a point where they gave me an overdose of the medicine, unknowingly, and I was paralyzed and drooling all over”. She added.
OV insisted that she had never used drugs while she talked about the seeming addiction. She attributed her mental condition to depression.
She said that music and certain sanatorium residents’ encouragement helped to cure her of her mental illness.
