PDP to Buhari: Nigerians Do Not Desire Your Successor

The People Democratic Party shortly known as PDP have accused the incumbent president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of telling lies to Nigerians during a Channels TV interview on Wednesday.

The party also used the opportunity to warn APC that Nigerians will resist, reject, dismiss any candidate brought forward as its flag bearer in 2023 elections.

The PDP mocked the president for appearing confused during the interview and says that Nigerians can now clearly see the handwriting on the wall and are willing to end the terror reign brought upon the country by APC.

The former ruling party added that president Buhari used used lies which is the APC’s “standard gauge of performance” as an attempt to sway the Nigerian populace of the real, hard, and harsh realities of the country’s economy.

One of the lies the president told the Channels TV interview was that; under the PDP’s watch, oil price per barrel sold for $100 on the average between 1999 to 2014 during the 16 years which the party were on the seat of power.

President Buhari claims that when the APC wrestled power away from PDP and took charge of the county’s economy the average price of oil per barrel dropped to $37.

In defence, PDP publicly declared that records never lie and urged the party to get facts right before making such statements. The party further claimed that in 1999 the price of oil per barrel was a record $16.27 with the highest being $63.28 in November 2014.

The party added that in the entire of APC reign, oil price per barrel have never dropped to $16 instead dances around $60 to $70.

The PDP further added that Nigeria was the fastest growing economy in Africa when they were in charge; doing so by generating a $550 billion economy which was the 26th best in the world.

The party further stressed that the country was one of the best nations in Africa in terms of ease of doing business due to the favourable investment policies. It used the opportunity to mock the ruling party over the neglect and unwillingness to tackle banditory, Boko Haram, and several kidnappings that have plunged the nation; especially in the northern part.

Moreover, the party added that the government of the APC came into power to meet a debt of N12 trillion and have increased the amount by doubled figures to N32 trillion in a space of 6 years.

Furthermore, the PDP claimed that at their time, unemployment rate was just 8.9% but currently, Nigeria has overtaken India as the poverty capital of the world.

In conclusion, PDP through the National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba said that Nigerians do not want any successor chosen by APC in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
