Ahead of Manchester City’s match with Leicester, Guardiola shared his thoughts on the title race.

According to Guardiola, Manchester City’s chances of winning the Premier League title will be significantly diminished if they fail to secure a victory against Leicester City in their upcoming match.

Currently, City is six points behind Arsenal in the league table, but they do have a game in hand and a better goal difference.

Both Arsenal and City have been performing exceptionally well in recent weeks, with Arsenal winning seven and drawing one of their last eight matches, and City winning nine games in a row across all competitions.

As both teams have been performing well, neither can afford to drop points in their respective fixtures against lower-ranked sides in the league.

City will play before Arsenal, giving them the opportunity to reduce the gap to three points with a win and putting pressure on their rivals.

However, Guardiola believes that anything less than three points against Leicester would significantly benefit Arsenal and almost hand them the league title due to the current points difference.

He said via Sky Sports: “Everybody knows that if we lose games we lose competitions. That’s why our attention to details is higher.”

“It’s the same [on Saturday] – if we lose the game, we will not be champions. If we win we could still be there.”

“But we cannot forget, we are six points behind Arsenal, a team who have dropped few points during the season and have one game a week, with a lot of time for recovery, to analyse and prepare for games.”

“It’s so difficult if you drop points. That’s why you have to be there as much as possible.”
